Marketly

A campaign manager for media buyers. Every campaign's live ads, bid and daily budget sit in one table, with the budget in an editable field right in the row.

The idea

Marketly is my own product: a place to run paid ad campaigns and read what they return. I designed all of it, from the log-in to the reports.

A buyer spends the day in one screen, the campaigns table, so that screen carries most of the design. The campaign pages, the reports and the notifications all open from it.

The problem it solves

What the first screen has to answer

What is live

Each campaign shows how many of its ads are running, 1/3 or 0/3, in green or red.

What it costs

Bid and daily budget sit in the row, and the budget is an editable field.

What needs a decision

Rejected ad groups and low budgets arrive as a banner over the table, then wait on their own page.

What I designed

The campaigns table

Status comes first in every row, as a count of live ads and a colour, because it is the column a buyer scans. The totals sit in the first row, so the sums stay in view on every page. Columns can be dragged and sorted, and Manage columns hides the ones you don't use, apart from Status and Site, which stay locked.

Edit and Show report stay grey until a campaign is selected. Select one and Edit opens Daily Budget and Bid, with Launch and Stop beside them.

Edit campaignfrom a selected row
Two settings, and the two actions that start or stop the spend.

Six filters narrow the list: feed, source, category, vertical, country and language. Once applied they stay above the table as chips, and the Filters button carries a count, so a filtered table is never mistaken for the whole list.

Campaigns2 filters applied
Each applied filter stays above the table as a chip, and the badge on Filters counts them.

One campaign, three views

A campaign opens on three tabs. Campaign information shows its settings as chips, performance split by audience, and a daily table.

Campaign informationDec 12 to Dec 18
Yesterday and so far today sit above the total, as the rows read first. So far today shows a dash where a figure isn't in yet.

Included ads lists every ad in the campaign with its creative, whether it is running, its budget and what it has returned.

Included adsAds overview
Each ad with its creative beside it, so a buyer knows which one they are looking at before reading its numbers.

The third tab, Ad groups, is where the design changed most. More on that below.

Reports by campaign age

Next to the usual date ranges, the picker has one preset made for this job: day 1, 3, 7, 14 and 30. Pick it and the report returns one row per age, so campaigns can be compared at the same point in their life. A later version gathered the ranges into Pending and Latest tabs, with six presets from today to the last 30 days.

Quick actions
Last 7 days, and the preset that builds a report by campaign age.
Presets, later version
The ranges grouped under two tabs, with today and yesterday added.
Multiple campaign reportDay 1, 3, 7, 14 and 30
Several campaigns in one report, each in its own block with its own bid, budget and live ads.

Notifications

Three kinds of message reach a buyer: an ad group fully rejected, one partly rejected, and a low budget. A new one lands as a banner over the campaigns table and a count on the bell, then stays on the Notifications page. A rejection card's menu goes to the campaign, marks it unread, or deletes the rejected ad or ad group without leaving the page.

Notifications2 unread
Unread cards are marked, and the two delete actions in the menu are red.

Getting in

The entry page asks which of three platforms you want, Employee Management, Application Backoffice or Admin Panel, and each has its own log-in. A wrong password puts Forgotten password right beside the error. Report a problem sits on the log-in page itself and takes a screenshot or a document, so someone who is locked out can still show support what they see.

Forgotten password
One field, and the dialog says what will arrive.
New password
Each rule turns green once it is met, and Send only turns purple when all five are.

One decision I changed

Version 1
Before: one group fills the screen, and the others are a long scroll away.
Version 2
After: three groups in one glance, each opened on demand.

Where it stands

Marketly shipped in 2023. The screens here are the Figma files, with placeholder campaigns and figures.
